Notebook computers have become quite popular these days with many of our customers looking for one. While most people think that all notebook computers are the same, there are quite a number to choose from. If you are not really sure what to get here are a few things to keep in mind.
Portability — although these things were created to be used on the go, they come in a lot of sizes and weights. If you want something really small then you will want to get an ultraportable notebook which is the most compact. If you are worried about weight an ultra light notebook may be better, this is slim and light at the same time. For those who do not mind carrying around something heavier and bigger then a desktop replacement can be good.
Performance — one of the most important things to consider when buying a notebook computer is how it will run. It is not always necessary to have a notebook that can perform as well as a desktop. The type of processing that you need will depend on how you plan to use your computer. If you are interested in simply typing and surfing the internet then you do not need a high speed processor. Entry level notebook computers can easily do this. However if you are looking to play games or run editing software then you need more.
Battery Life — another important factor to consider is how long your battery will last. Notebook computers can be easily used without a power source. The question is how long can you use it? Smaller ones will last as long as five hours on a battery alone. On the other hand bigger ones may only last two hours on average. If you do not plan on using it for long without a power source then 2 hours life may be fine. However if you plan on using it longer than this then you will want to pick something with extended battery life.
Display — for most people what they see can play a very big role in picking a notebook computer. Smaller notebooks are not quite capable of producing high definition graphics. If you are planning on just doing work and browsing the internet this type of display is fine. Now if you are looking to play games, watch movies and do other multimedia activities a much better display is needed. Bigger notebooks with higher video cards are needed in order to achieve this.
Generally, if you are just looking for something to do work with smaller notebooks are fine. They have enough power to process documents and will last long on a battery. If you want something for entertainment and to replace a desktop computer then you are better off with something not only bigger, but jam packed with great specs!
