Not everyone takes the time to sit down and think about what kind of mouse they use for their computer. This little gadget that we rarely think about is quite important and deserves a bit more thought. Without the right mouse, using your computer can become a bit more difficult, not to mention that you can eventually retain an injury from using the wrong kind of mouse.
What exactly would the perfect mouse be like? No need to spend too much time thinking about it. The answer to the question is pretty straightforward: something easy to use and ergonomic as well. Despite this there are still some choices to be made:
- Wired or Wireless
- Laser, Optical or Ball
- Full size or Travel size
- Regular Buttons or Programmable Buttons
Wired or Wireless
The choice of going for a wired or wireless mouse really depends on what you are more comfortable with. A wired mouse can be convenient in terms of not having to worry about its power source. Being connected to the CPU you don’t have to charge it or change batteries. On the other hand, having a wireless mouse gives you the freedom to move farther away from the computer itself, and of course you don’t have to worry about wires getting all tangled up.
Laser or Optical
Most of the choices for mice these days are actually between laser and optical. These are much more sensitive than the outdated ball mouse. Laser mice have a higher sensitivity and can be great if you are working on graphics or do a lot of gaming as this can be good. Otherwise an optical mouse will do well enough.
Full size or Travel size
Does size matter? Again that will depend on what you are comfortable with. A full size mouse can be great if you are planning on using it a lot. It allows you to position your hand in a more relaxed way. Travel sized can be somewhat cramped and can be tiring to use, but then again they are great for toting along wherever you go and fit into just about any bag compartment.
Regular Buttons or Programmable Buttons
We all know about the left and right buttons on the mouse and their usual functions. With programmable mouse buttons you can add to the functions of your mouse. This can be great for those who prefer to use the mouse over the keyboard and would like more shortcuts for certain actions. Otherwise if you are fine with scrolling your mouse over to the right spot and clicking away then there is no need for programmable buttons.
